Socinus Bible Privacy Policy

In short

Socinus Bible collects no personal data. The app works without an account, without a server and without the internet; whatever you create in it stays on your device.

  • No data collection and no analytics
  • No tracking and no advertising
  • No server and no account
  • Personal data only on your device

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Socinus Bible app for iPhone and iPad. It describes which data the app processes and which it does not. Visits to this website are covered by the general privacy policy of socinianism.com.

2. Controller

Full provider details are given in the imprint.

3. No collection of personal data

The app collects no personal data and transmits nothing to me or to third parties. There is no user account and no sign-in. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising tools, and it does not track your usage.

Socinus Bible has no server. The Bible texts, the works in the library, the lexicon and search are built into the app; it does not connect to the internet for its content and downloads nothing.

4. What the app stores on your device

Bookmarks, highlights, notes, collections, reading progress, reading plans and the history are kept in an app database on your device, with the settings and the search history beside it. The history lists the verses, book sections and lexicon entries opened most recently, with the time; on the “Study” tab it can be deleted entry by entry or completely. The app transmits none of it.

This data is part of the device backup. If iCloud Backup is turned on, iOS backs it up together with the rest of the device; Apple handles this, not the app.

5. Export and import

An export file of your entries is created only at your explicit request (Settings › Back up and restore). The app hands it to the iOS share menu; where it goes from there, for example to the Files app or as an attachment to a message, is decided by you alone. When importing, the app reads a backup file that you select yourself and applies its entries on the device.

6. Verse of the day reminder

The verse of the day reminder is off until you turn it on. The app then schedules the notifications locally through the device’s system, always for the coming weeks. There is no push service, no device token and no transmission. Until a notification appears, the system keeps its text (a verse from the Luther Bible 1912 or the King James Version) on the device. Turning it off deletes all scheduled notifications.

7. Reading aloud

Reading aloud uses the device’s speech output with the voices available on it. The app sends no text to the internet for this. The Racovian NT and the works in the library are read only by a voice built in by Apple, never by a voice from another provider.

8. Links to the internet

Some entries under “Sources & Licenses” and the publisher’s websites under “Websites” in Settings point to the internet, as do links in the text and footnotes of some works and the note on a work’s printed edition at Amazon. Only a tap opens the page in your browser. There the privacy policy of the respective provider applies, for example Amazon’s.

9. App Store

The app is downloaded and updated through Apple’s App Store. Apple is responsible for this, and Apple’s privacy policy applies.

10. Contact by e-mail

If you write to me about the app, I process the details in your message, including your contact data, solely in order to deal with your request. Details are given in section 4 c of the website’s privacy policy.

11. Your rights

I hold no personal data from the app. Insofar as I nevertheless process data about you, for example because you wrote to me, you have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw a consent given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

An informal e-mail to info[at]socinianism.com is enough for any request.
